Soon Myoung - Laser Cut Light

For University our class had to, in groups of 2, design and prototype a light. This had to be done using laser cutting as the main manufacturing method. Many different lighting sources were used. And this light by one of the guys really demonstrated how to bend 3mm ply in a manner that allows it to bend and not fracture and split.

The ply was cut in a zig zag formation. Doing this allowed distribution of torsion and twisting factors.

Each length of the zig zag formation is located by a number of discs which determine the wave form to the whole light.

Discs determine the outside curve

Everchanging form

The shadows created were very cool!
